(1949, Gorinchem, NL)
The beginning
In the winter of 1971 – 1972 I started as an apprentice at a bookbindery in Uithuizen (NL). Katinka Keus taught me afterwards the real approach to bookbinding. I specialised myself in ‘box making’.
Growth
Since 1992 I have my own one-man bindery. Since 1996 I give courses and workshops in ‘box making’ and ‘new bindings’ in the Netherlands and later on in Switzerland (Ascona), Italy, Sweden and USA.
My work
My work is in private collections, institutes, like for instance the Royal Library, The Hague and my own showcases. Furthermore it lives on through the work of my many students.
Where
I live in the very North of Holland, Warffum, where the world is grand and windy.
